Task 6 draft Statement of intent

For my music video "forget about tomorrow " by Jay park, I used a variety of colours when I was editing to follow the style of the music, as the music is bright with dynamic beats. To portray the excitement in the music, I wanted to present different colours with quick cuts to maintain the vibe that flows in the song. My main target audience is going to be around 16-25 females because this song was written for a girl but my secondary audience is going to be males because they could relate to the artists on how they feel. With camera work, I chose to shoot my music video mainly handheld to keep it moving and lively throughout the song. Also because I chose to do a performance for my music video, I thought that it would make the performances more alive when handheld rather than on a tripod. It will also enable the audience’s attention and to use this as a part of escapism.I shot in a low angle medium shot, eye to eye level shots and a wide angle. The reason why I chose to shoot in these angles was that I needed a lot of mixture of shots to explore the video from different angles and perspectives so it’s not too fixed. For mise en scene (costume) I asked my performer to dress street casual so that it fits with the genre. I also chose to shoot in a studio and in central London, so that we get an indoor shot and an outdoor shot which perfectly matched the casualty of this song. My music video carries certain media representation through the actor I have chosen. He was to perform in a casual way with some lip sync to connote that this song can be heard or to be thought of in our daily lives. The lip sync was done to transfer the message across to the audience (which in this case it was about love and the feelings of how he felt for her). While performing the lip sync there were some hand gestures and little dance moves as well to show the energy, passion and youth to the audience but it also represented the actor as dominant and it was a way of showing dominant ideology because the song was about him confessing his love and telling her to follow. Therefore the way my actor had all the screen time was to imply that he is the main character and the one who is leading this song with the video.

For my website, I plan to make it look trendy and modern with the primary colours to stylise my website. By digitally converging with Wix website and universal music group, my main homepage is going to contain news and the recent music video to help promote, the menu button is going to have links to music, video, behind the scenes and a contact page. In the music link, it’s going to specifically talk about the song, the lyrics and the artist whereas the video link is going to be based on the video and how it was shot and planned...etc. The behind the scenes page is there to add amusement and it also builds intimacy with the audience due to the more realistic part of the artist. The last page will be the contacts page, where all the social media contents would be linked. This will allow us to interact with the audience and to be able to get some feedback as well as in the future with any other upcoming programmes they can be notified through social media. This is a way of communicating with the audience in a fast and the simplest way also, by having social media means that the audiences are allowed to share, comment and could allow the audience to make their own content (UGC) which benefits the marketing. 

To be able to use digital convergence culture wisely, I will use a variety of common words so that when
the audience searches up a certain word there might be a chance of the website being shown which
could help to gain audiences. Also on the website, there will be a space to put a phone number or an
email to get notifications easily since audiences can check their emails on phones and on their laptops.

However, the most effective way to approach the audience will be social media. Social media has

almost built a community where people can approach each other easily and a place to share your
world with a wide range of different audiences. Social media is the place that has rooted out
convergence culture, therefore, to share and to build on a community based on my content, social
media is the most effective way of doing so.
