Black Panther's production company is Marvel Studios because it's
a superhero film from Disney and Disney owns Marvel Studios. Releasing a film
from Marvel Studios is a big benefit for the film, as most of the films that
Marvel Studios have produced has been successful at all times and Marvel Studio
carries a big history with them too. They have produced various comic books and
that attracted many audiences and since then, they have produced films based on
the comic books which the audience will have some kind of expectations and
seems like Marvel Studios have met those expectations that the audience held
for their movies. Therefore, this time again the audiences expected the film to
be another hit for Marvel.
The main protagonist of this
film is Chadwick Boseman and he is worth 5 million dollars. Personally, I
haven't heard of him. However, he may be known since he acted in Captain
America. Marvel Studios may have cast him as the protagonist because of the
previous experience in Captain America and since he is already introduced to
the audience from Marvel Studios. Plus he is on the A-list cast list which
obviously means he is a good actor himself.
The production budget for the
film Black Panther was 200 million which doesn't even include marketing
and advertising. It seems like it was used for the actors, the set/costumes and
most of all the CGI for the visuals. It's not that surprising for a superhero
movie from Marvel Studios.
Black Panther marketing campaign must have costed a lot of money.
From the advertisements that I have seen and that is still displayed. Posters
were displayed all around London transport: underground, bus, railways, Uber,
Taxi. Apart from that, posters were posted on billboards and the trailers were
played on the screens of BFI Imax, also the Black Panther trailers were
constantly played before every movie that was out around this time. It was also
viral on social media, there were a lot of famous Facebook pages posting the
trailers or the pictures from Black Panther even so on Instagram, twitter…etc.
For licensed products, it was on for: Lego, McDonalds, and Lexus.
Lego produced Lego figures for Black Panther characters and in McDonalds they
were advertising Black Panther on happy meal boxes and so on… Lexus car was
used during the film when the protagonists gets on top of the car during a
chase.
This links into brand partnerships, Lexus was one of the brand
partnerships that was carried out in the movie.
Some good research here - could be developed further in thinking about *why* Lexus would partner with the film, *how* did it go viral? B
